DTLR Radio teams up with Morgan State University’s Esports team to host the “She Got Game” series, celebrating women in gaming via Twitch.
To kick off the series, Chelsea Casarrubias (@Champagne.Chelss), inaugural President of MSU Esports program, and Teyana Watson (@TeyanaLetrice), Twitch streamer hosted a live Q&A with Karima Winter (YoPreme), Creative Director at Cxmmunity.
“Out of all game developers in the world, only 24% of them are women,”
Chelsea Casarrubias, President of MSU Esports program said during the program.
The program was founded by Director and Head Coach Tarrin Morgan in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic as a way to engage students virtually. The first esports tournament that the MSU Esports team participated in was HBCU Battlegrounds hosted by DTLR and Cxmmunity in partnership with 300 Entertainment. Despite the team’s infancy, the MSU Bears won the tournament as the rising underdogs of the season. Today Morgan State Esports team consists of 80 student members who have won two championships in their first year.
