Beats by Dr. Dre, Lil baby, Naomi Osaka and More Inspires Black Youth in New Short Film

Written by on November 19, 2020

“You love Black culture, but do you love me?”

That is the question Beats by Dr. Dre seeks to answer in their latest short film, “You Love Me” starring Naomi Osaka, Lil Baby, Bubba Wallace, and Janaya Khan. Beats and the creatives involved aim to inspire Black youth by highlighting the everyday beauty and rich diversity of their culture.

Narrated by the people’s favorite Tobe Nwigwe, who told us to Try Jesus and not him, the film is directed by Melina Matsoukas. This film unpacks the question with a play on the timeless girls game, “you love me, you love me not.”

Those who touched this piece have seen the world actively love their art or their athletic achievements, while also seeing the world continually oppress the Black community at large.
