Joey Badass Sparks Competition, Teases West Coast Rap With New Song & Video ‘The Ruler’s Back’

Tell us how you really feel, Joey! While the east coast lyricist has been busy with acting and other ventures, it’s been a bit since we got some new music. That changes in 2025 as Badass kicks off the year with a new track and video “The Ruler’s Back” out now. While he didn’t call anyone out directly, it’s clear Joey’s ready for some competition. He pays homage to east coast legends Slick Rick and Jay Z via the song’s title (the aforementioned artists each have songs with the same title), as well as certain homage lyrics. All in all, the young lyricist sounds hungry and motivated over the Conductor Williams production.
The song hasn’t officially hit streaming services yet, but we expect that to happen sooner than later. For now, check out the video above.
