BJ The Chicago Kid Talks Longevity, Family, Love Of Music & The Gravy Tour w/ Tiara LaNiece

After years of listening to BJ The Chicago Kid, whether as a feature or songs like “Church” with Chance The Rapper. I have finally had the chance to sit with him and learn where all this soul comes from. Learning about the history of his family and the way they moved within the structure, it all makes sense. Recalling moments that were very pivotal in his upbringing BJ mentions the importance of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Playing off of the title of his current tour, I asked him if it was “all gravy” and boy did I get an ear full.

While speaking on his time in the music business BJ talks about the “nervous” feeling and how it plays a part in your performance or the lack thereof. He says if you love it you’d feel that feeling each time and if you don’t… well! You kinda get it and if you don’t just listen carefully to the words he says and take it all in.
