Travis Scott Cancels ‘Day N Vegas’ Performance; Plans to Give Refund + Assistance to All ‘Astroworld’ Attendees

Written by on November 9, 2021

This past weekend was a tragic one for hip-hop and music fans alike. On Friday (11/6), after a series of mishaps, bad planning and poor execution, hundreds of attendees at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival were severely injured, leaving 8 dead. While details on what exactly happened are still being sorted out, all we know is this tragic event will leave a lasting impact on Travis and on hip-hop moving forward.

Following the festival, which was cancelled for the 2nd and final day, Travis released multiple statements and vowed to right these wrongs. First, he announced that he will be giving a refund to all of the Astroworld attendees. Travis will also be covering all funeral costs for the 8 victims. Last, he has partnered with BetterHelp to supply online therapy for everyone affected.

Travis has also removed himself as headliner for the upcoming Day N Vegas festival. He’ll be replaced by Post Malone.

We expect a lot more action to take place from Travis, Live Nation and the other parties responsible for what happened at this year’s Astroworld Fest. Ultimately, there needs to be a change and hopefully this serves as the ultimate wake up call.

Travis is certainly already feeling the backlash from brands. Fortnite announced they’ll be halting Scott’s emote sales following this tragedy.
