Talk about a comedic, yet effective messaging tactic.

Juvenile and Mannie Fresh have partnered with BLK, the largest black dating app, to encourage their users to get the Covid-19 vaccine. How did they do so? Well, they recreated their classic hit “Back That Thang Up” for a new version deemed “Vax That Thang Up.”

The new version features New Orleans’ own Mia X and also comes equipped with a music video.

“I just wanted to do something positive for my people and to stand in the front to show that I’m willing to sacrifice my life not just for me but also for my family,” said Juvenile about the new song and campaign. “We don’t know what we’re facing right now but we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”

Jonathan Kirkland, the head of Brand & Marketing for BLK had this to say:

“We have a direct line to the audience that needs to internalize this message.” He continues, “The song may be playful and fun, but the underlying message is as real as it gets.”
