The South’s Got Something To Say: DTLR x Nike Take Over the Trap Music Museum

Written by on November 13, 2023

Decades ago, the South had something to say… decades later, they’re still talking!

This past week, DTLR teamed up with our good friends at Nike to create an unforgettable exhibit at the beloved Trap Music Museum in Atlanta, GA. Celebrating 50 years of hip-hop, 40 years of DTLR and 20 years of TRAP MUSIC, we successfully showed this intersection of culture.

On the hip-hop and trap music front, our exhibit had it all. We showcased a timeline of trap music and paid homage to the artists and projects that helped shape the genre we know and love today. Our team went above and beyond with hand-crafted art pieces, a replica sculpture of Outkast (the duo that coined the “South’s Got Something To Say” moment), a unique display of old CDs, record players, headphones, and so much more.

DTLR and Nike came correct on the shoe and fashion displays. As you entered the exhibit, you were met with a beautiful shoe wall that featured a ton of different AF1s and some Nike apparel. Across from the wall were replica lockers featuring jerseys and shoes from basketball legends LeBron James and A’ja Wilson. The relationship between hip-hop, footwear, and the enthusiasm for basketball was certainly felt.

For those who missed out, check out the recap above and a picture gallery below. Our exhibit will stay live until the end of the year, so make sure you head to the Trap Music Museum before then!
