The 2022 Grammys Have Officially Been Postponed

Written by on January 5, 2022

Well, what was expected can now be confirmed. According to Variety, a spokesperson from the Recording Academy has said this year’s Grammy’s are officially postponed. No new date has been announced as of now.

Due to the recent spike of Covid-19 cases, the Academy thought this was the best decision. Here’s what they and their TV partner CBS said in a joint statement:

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th annual Grammy Awards show. The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon.”

As you see at the end of the statement, they do plan to announce a new date soon. With all the uncertainty of Covid and the Omicron variant, there’s no telling when it’ll be and more importantly, how it’ll take place.

Hopefully all the hardworking artists will get a chance to celebrate their accomplishments the right way. We’ll keep you posted as more info is revealed.
